A wild rose that does not seem to precisely match any species in my field guides colors a roadside thicket.
Fringed Loosestrife - so named for the ragged ends of its petals - is at its peak.
And tiny yellow-green Northern Green Orchids are up. They like a little extra moisture but don't seem to mind nearly complete shade. I found this one under hemlocks deep in the woods.
