Today the stubby three toothed rays of Galinsoga's flowers are open. This alien species flourishes in waste places and - to the chagrin of many - in gardens.
Enchanter's Nightshade lifts racemes of inconspicuous flowers to the sun.
The pea-like pink flowers of Pointed-leaved Tick Trefoil wave wand-like over thickets and weed patches.
And a tiger moth called Leconte's Haploa waits out the day rather conspicuously on a leaf.
