Ragged Fringed Orchids are having their day. The 3 part deeply cut lower lip of this species distinguishes it from other green orchids. I find it in wet meadows and weed patches.
Monkey-Flower is also starting to appear. This one is probably Square-Stemmed Monkey-Flower. Monkey-flowers like to have very wet feet.
Pipsissewa's flowers, shown here with last year's seed capsules, turn their faces toward the ground. If you want to look at one you have to tip it up to the sky.
And a very common moth called the Beautiful Wood Nymph perched conspicuously on a leaf, depending for safety on its resemblance to bird dropping. All of which leaves me wondering if the namer of this moth saw the irony?
