The Thistle-like flowers of Spotted Knapweed are open. Knapweeds like roadsides and waste places. They even thrive on river cobble.
The tiny whitish flowers of Bracted Plantain crowd between their spiky namesake bracts.
And a small Milkweed bug adds a bit of color to the roadside greenery.
