For a week or so I've been hearing Raven fledglings. To fledge young this early incubation must have started on or before March 1st.
Goldthread which takes its name from the color of its roots is starting to flower.
Painted Trillium is putting on a show.
Both Northern White Violets and Ovate -leaved Blue Violets are also in bloom.
The large sterile outer flowers of Hobblebush surround the much smaller fertile flowers. I find Hobblebush on stream banks and in seepage areas.
