Today Bladder Campion with its veined melon-like calyx sac opened a few flowers.
Overnight Barberry Geometers were flying. The larval host plant of this species is, of course, barberry.
And in a wet, sedgy area bordered by alders and willows I found this attractive and uniquely marked yet still unidentified caterpillar. Caterpillars of Eastern North America has pictures of about 600 species but not - as near as I can tell - this one.
