Yellow Sweet Clover is starting to flower along roadsides and in waste places.
Motherwort can be seen in thickets especially around old home sites.
Moneywort favors damp ground. All three are alien species.
Thickets and open woods are home to the native White Avens.
And the caterpillar of a Mourning Cloak butterfly was crossing a road - perhaps seeking a place to pupate - when I snapped its picture.
