Alfalfa, an alien species cultivated as fodder, escapes to roadsides and similar spaces.
Goutweed, cultivated as an ornamental, escapes to shaded roadsides and banks.
Tall cinquefoil, a native species, is unique in having white flowers. All of its relatives flower yellow. It can be seen in woods, often on ledgy slopes.
And Spreading Dogbane, a favorite of insect pollinators, can be seen in upland woods, along roadsides and in fields. True to its name it will colonize an entire field!
