Day hunting Tiger Beetles are active. There are 2600 species in North America. The brilliant green Six-spotted Tiger Beetles are among the easiest to see. Look for them along forest paths.
Garter snakes had their batteries fully charged by the day's warmth.
And a moth - possibly one called the Mottled Gray Carpet - blended well with the sandy substate it rested on.
